Sometimes living in Hawaii, I feel far away from all of the crafty mainland communities in Los Angeles, DC, New York, Chicago, etc... But a few weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to stop by the annual Food and Craft Fair at the Blaisdell in Honolulu. The above pic displays our small purchases.
On the left is shorts made from a rice sack. I love this! She also had fabulous aprons with CALROSE RICE plastered across the middle, which I'm planning on getting sometime after Christmas.

In the middle is a lavender plant from Ali‘i Kula Lavender, which is located on Maui. Check out their tours if you are visiting Maui, that's what I'm going to do!
Next to the plant is two bottles of marinade from Ohana Seafoods. We bought the Teriyaki Miso Sauce and the Korean-Style Sauce. They're both good, but I have to give extra props to the Teri-Miso Sauce. Yum! You can get this sauce at Don Quijote formerly known as Daiei. If you're not from here and haven't heard of either, you should click here to see what has appalled and amused local grocery shoppers for the last few months.
Finally, I got a flier from Island Fishtales, a company that screenprints beautiful gyotaku (fish prints) on children's clothing.
For more Hawai‘i goodness, bookmark hapa | hale. This site has made me consider buying a kayak. For Hawai‘i Crafty goodness, there's always Myra's blog, My Little Mochi, which I'm sure everyone's already bookmarked.
As many a bumper sticker reminds me: "Lucky you live Hawai‘i!"
